Welcome to the 1995 Toyota Interactive CD-ROM Program. It's just part of "Toyota Interactive" which includes diskettes covering selective vehicles; the 1995 Toyota Screen Saver; and direct access to Toyota through on-line services such as Prodigy®, America Online®, CompuServe® and Toyota's World Wide Web site.
Minimum System Requirements:
—Apple Macintosh with 68030 processor or greater
—Hard Disk with 2 MB free space
—System 7.0 or later
—8 MB of RAM recommended
—256-color display
—Apple Sound Manager 3.0, QuickTime 2.0 and Apple Multimedia Tuner 2.0.1
(All are included on the Toyota Interactive disc.)
—Double-speed CD-ROM drive
Installation Procedures for Macintosh:
1) Install QuickTime™ 2.0, Sound Manager™ 3.0 and Apple Multimedia Tuner 2.0.1 by dragging them from the 1995 Toyota Interactive CD-ROM (found in the "For Your System" folder) on to your hard drive's system folder. Then restart your computer.
2) Turn off any unnecessary system extensions, especially file sharing software.
The following is a minimal list of extensions needed to run the program:
—Apple CD-ROM
—Apple Multimedia Tuner 2.0.1 (Provided on CD-ROM.)
—Foreign File Access
—Quicktime (Provided on CD-ROM.)
—Quicktime Power Plug (If running on a Power PC model. Provided on CD-ROM.)
—Sound Manager (Provided on CD-ROM.)
—Any other extensions that you need specifically for your system
3) Double-click on the "Toyota 95" icon found on the compact disc.
Optimizing 1995 Toyota Interactive's Performance:
The 1995 Toyota Interactive Program may require the full attention of your computer. Therefore, it is necessary to turn off file sharing or any other programs that might be running.
It's important to check that your system has at least 4 MB of RAM available. If you don't have that much accessible, you might have to remove or turn off some inits and extensions.
If the video performance is slow, try setting your monitor to 256 colors.
Another way to enhance it's performance is to allocate more memory to it. First, copy the "Toyota 95" file to your hard drive, then click on it once—highlighting it—then choose "Get Info" from the File menu. Set the preferred size to the highest value your free RAM will allow.
It might also be necessary to increase the size of your RAM cache to 512K or more. The RAM cache is located in the Memory control panel in your System Folder.
Quick Check List:
1) Turn off System 7's virtual memory and file sharing.
2) Verify the installation of QuickTime™ 2.0, Sound Manager™ 3.0 and Apple Multimedia Tuner 2.0.1.
3) Turn off any unnecessary inits or extensions. (Remove them from your System Folder and restart.)
4) Make sure your monitor is set to 256-color mode or better.
5) Increase your RAM cache to 512K or more.
6) Allocate more memory to Toyota Interactive.
7) Call 1-800-GO-TOYOTA for further assistance.
